So for those of you that don’t know, Motorola originally entered the data capture market through the acquisition of Symbol computers, a well loved, small but technically gifted little company. They then got split up into the Mobile and solutions divisions, with the mobile division getting purchased by Google and then sold off to Lenovo a year later, the remaining “Solutions” division then purchased Psion in 2013 and then recently got bought out itself by Zebra, the mobile printing company! So for someone who has been through one of the largest IT mergers in history whilst at Hewlett Packard some years ago I know this must have been one long, arduous journey for many! Last week Zebra announced that the mobile technology division would be renamed all the way back to Symbol! So it’s been one long journey right back to where they came from. We’ll keep you posted on news as it happens.
