GaneData GX8010 (Gstar) – Gets a product refresh

Ganedata GX8010

Ganedata GX8010, GStar or HH8010

The Ganedata GX8010, gStar is essentially a Small Rugged PDA’s can be a difficult bunch, often with a lot of hidden compromises made in order to get the form factor and price to where it needs to be.  The great thing with Ganedata is they listen to us and work very hard to deliver hardware that fits exactly with our customers needs and this is exactly what has happened with the latest incarnation of the GX8010 or Ganedata GStar as it’s known!

Whats changed

Firstly you now don’t have to choose between BT and WiFi.  You now get both as standard and its all very standard protocol so you can use your BT headset with the device no problems.

There have also been some welcomed tweaks to the casing as you’ll see in the video.  There are no signs of non-UK markings now which do plague even some of the better known devices coming out of Asia.  However the Gstar is now totally UK friendly!

Also the buttons are a lot nicer to use.  The previous models had very tough and strong buttons which could make scanning all day a little bit labourious but the buttons on the Gstar are now a pleasure to use.

Lastly the stylus can come in a tethered format so you don’t lose it if it falls out of the device.

Don’t forget that this handset still has a very good standard specificiation, with an Adaptus 2D Scanner that you can opt out.  RFID support instead of the scanner for HF and LF scanning, WM 6.1 and its IP67 rated with a great drop spec.

Pricing

Pricing remains unchanged for the hardware and the support options and we can get great pricing for your project, whilst eliminating risk by working closely with the manufacturer.  Don’t forget that we also have our own flavours of the Operating system here so we can get this device running really efficiently at a very low cost point for a rugged platform.

This device is in stock and available now so call us if you need any more help with this.

Always talk to the experts!

Pidion BM170 is launched – Coming to UK soon

Pidion BM170

Pidion BM170 - Ruggedness with style

The New Pidion BM170

Pidion are fast becoming the choice for the small cheap rugged PDA that just work.  However a common complaint by customers, when looking at the rugged option, is that the Rugged PDA counter parts are just not feature packed or have high enough specs when compared to non-rugged, HTC PDA’s.

We know that these cons’s are also the main Pro’s of Rugged devices as slightly less up to date components keep costs down, create a more stable device and of course they allow you to committ to a platform that will perform over years unchanged without having to worry about devices going end of line or changes to their make-up disrupting your solution.

However Pidion have reacted to this with the BM170 and we got a first look of an engineering device a few months ago and were very impressed with it.  Not only is it highly specified and small, but it actually looks really good too!!  Some are already calling it the rugged iPhone!!

The device is on its way to us and a few key customers now and we’ll update you all soon when it finally arrives in the UK in earnest.

What the BM170 gives businesses is a choice they have never had before.  Whilst businesess love the Pidions BM150R, ganedata’s GX8010 and Airo’s A25 and A30, we have seen a trend into wanting Semi-rugged PDA’s that more clsoely resemble consumer phones in terms of features, spec and desirability.  The BM170 fills that gap.

Specification

All models have a PXA 320, 806Mhz CPU with 128/256MB RAM configuration, 3.5″ QVGA screen and Windows Mobile 6.5, BT/WiFi.

There are 5 models slated for release:

BM170-C - Tops the range with 256MB RAM, VGA screen, 3MP Camera, AGPS and HSDPA

BM170-B - 128MB RAM, QVGA screen, 3MP Camera, AGPS and HSDPA

BM170-L3 - 256MB RAM, VGA screen, AGPS, no WAN

BM170-L2 - 128MB RAM, QVGA screen, no WAN

BM170-L1 - 128MB RAM, 3MP Camera, QVGA screen, no WAN

All models are available to order now and should be available mid-late July 2010.  Come and talk to us if you’re looking for one now and we’ll be able to help.

Pidion BM150R re-freshes its range

1 06 2010

Pidion BM150R

Pidion BM150R - Same case, better options

The BM150R took a while to wake up but in the past 12 months it has gained some serious momentum as the demand for “Semi-Rugged” PDA’s increases.

There were some nuisances to the range, both in terms of pricing and functionality, however Pidion have now attended to most of these, making the BM150R a real contender in this market place.

The BM150R Proposition

The BM150R is squarely aimed at the user who’s looking for a good range of functionality at a great price point.  In the rugged market it’s usually about what you’re willing to sacrifice in a device and with the BM150R it’s not cost for a change!

OK, so its not fully rugged but there are a lot of customers out there who don’t need an IP rated device and who haven’t got the budget to buy a fully rugged device.  There are also a lot of people who want a device that’s small enough to use as an every day phone but knowing that the device they choose is rugged enough, has a good roadmap and won’t be vanishing any time soon.  The backup of full support services, equal to any rugged PDA is also something that is available at a very reasonable cost on the BM150R.  With the networks starting to end their support on anything rugged, this is becoming a more common need for our customers and this class of device is exactly what most customers are now looking to progress their creaking HTC platforms on to.

The Range Explained

The range starts with non GSM enabled pure “PDA’s” and goes through an increasingly more appropriate feature set that we feel mirrors what most people want.  We do however have the abilityt o mix and match certain elements here so talk to us if you’re not seeing exactly what you need.

BM150R-M – 1.3MP Cam, GPS, BT

BM150R-AC – 1.3MP Cam, GPS, BT, Ext Batt

BM150R-P – 1.3MP Cam, GPS, BT, WiFi

BM150R-W – 1.3MP Cam, GPS, BT, WiFi, GSM/GPRS

BM150R-S – 1.3MP Cam, GPS, BT, WiFi, GSM/HSDPA

BM150R-V – 1.3MP Cam, GPS, BT, WiFi, GSM/HSDPA, Ext Batt

The BM150R-W are the most popular model we sell, making up about 80% of BM150R sales.  The R-V pretty much makes up the rest but we can provide r-W models with extended battery options if required.  We can also still get WM5.0 versions of the above if needed but be very careful of buying older model numbers as GPRS chips among other things have been upgraded meaning the devices will behave slightly differently if either later upgraded or simply due to older models like the R-I having different chips in it.

Prices

Prices start at under £300 and don’t get an awful lot higher for the GPRS versions.  HSDPA versions come in at under the £450 mark making them very competitive, even with HTC rivals which will cost your business far more in the long run.

What we have found with all Pidion devices is that it takes expert knowledge to understand them, the accessories and all the little nuances they have.  However with our help we’re always able to find something that works for customers on the Pidion range and the BM150R is an excpetionally competent little device.

Come talk to us if you need any help as we’re fast becoming the leading UK sellers of Pidion as well as being the leading experts on Pidion.
